Rangers' Laviolette calls shots from Islanders 'evil'
It's safe to say that Peter Laviolette looked a little upset after the game. New York Rangers'Lost 2-4 first New York Islanders on Tuesday.
Speaking to reporters after the game, the Rangers head coach considered two hits by Islanders players “evil.”
First was the collision between Rangers center Mika Zibanejad and Islanders defender Adam Pelech.
While Pelech was looking the other way, Zibanejad slid right into his extended elbow. Zibanejad fell to the ice, clearly in distress, and had to be helped to the locker room by his trainer.
According to Laviolette, the hit was intentional.
“He came back (to the bench) after that vicious hit. He's back. It's a vicious shoulder, an elbow to the head. Let's see,” the coach said after the match.
Laviolette later said the same thing about Noah Dobson's behind-the-back hit on Vincent Trocheck.
“Bad,” he said. “From behind.”
The hit on Trocheck occurred in the final seconds of Tuesday's game, and the Rangers center was clearly angry.

As the Islanders celebrated their fourth goal of the night, Trocheck was seen venting his frustration with the referee, who had witnessed the play earlier and let the play pass without a call.
While both shots were deemed acceptable by the referee, Laviolette clearly disagreed. Now we will see if the tournament has any problems.
For his part, Islanders head coach Patrick Roy disagreed with Laviolette's description.
“It was an accident,” Roy said of Zibanejad-Pelech's hit. “Sometimes disappointment makes you say things.”
Regardless of the intentions, the Rangers will likely be looking for revenge on Saturday when these two rival teams meet again.
