Rare and Microsoft are celebrating the 5th anniversary of Sea of Thieves, but the developers are also looking to the horizon over the next 5 years of the live-service pirate adventure.
In a post on Xbox cordXbox revealed that the Sea of Thieves team at Rare recently sat down to map out the game’s next five years.
Creative director Mike Chapman said: “I think 10 years of Sea of Thieves will seem like a long time – but at the same time, we will blink and be there. point.”
The Sea of Thieves team seems to be discussing ideas for a smuggling mechanic, a reward for protecting other players from griefers, and a screenshot “drawing” mechanic. The development team’s mantra is “Players create stories together” and this broad vision makes it feel like they’ll never run out of ideas, as long as players are there to experience them. .
