Your regular hosts are back for another round of analysis and fun you’ve come to expect from GI reviews of Halo series. Alex Stadnik, Andrew Reiner, and Brian Shea are breaking down this week’s episode, and have plenty to say about yet another setback for a series that includes some of the most iconic characters in video games.
We begin the episode with the promise of answers to what’s going on with John’s memories, and the artifact is somehow connected to what we can guess is one of the Halo rings. Those answers show up at the end of the episode, but “Homecoming” takes too long to draw those scenes, continuing the series’ trend of poor pacing. On top of that, we finally find ourselves in Madrigal with Soren and Kwan, which continues to make us feel like a distraction from the main story we’re interested in.
However, there are some positive aspects of episode four. Kai followed John’s lead and turned rogue by removing her emotional capsule and starting to see the world a little differently. Her interactions with Miranda Keyes and the rest of Sparta provide brevity and clarity and demonstrate that there is still hope for the series.
