RHONY’s Bethenny Frankel sues TikTok over fake endorsement ads
Bethenny Frankel wants to take TikTok to court.
The Real Housewives of New York City Alum is suing TikTok on advertisements that allegedly used her image and likeness to sell counterfeit goods with her permission, according to court documents filed on October 6 and got E! News.
In the class-action lawsuit, Frankel argued that her “reputation and brand” was being “ruined and tarnished” through unauthorized marketing. She said her request for TikTok to remove such ads was ignored by the social media platform.
According to the lawsuit, “In one instance, when Ms. Frankel posted a video warning consumers about the unauthorized and illegal use of her personality to sell counterfeit goods – with the intent of informing consumers about deceptive behavior — ironically, TikTok has removed Ms. Frankel’s content as ‘abusive.’ “
E! News reached out to TikTok for comment and did not receive a response.
In a press release from her law firm led by E! In the news, Frankel says she came to learn that the issues of alleged image abuse and likeness are a “pervasive issue affecting creators of all sizes across the space”, so she also filed on behalf of other content creators.
