Via Dan Ambrose: Sebastian ‘The Towering Inferno’ Fundora will defend his interim junior WBC title against Carlos Ocampo on Saturday night, October 8, on Showtime at Dignity Health Sports Park, Carson, California. The televised portion of the event begins at 10:00 p.m. ET.
6’6 ″ Fundora (19-0-1, 13 KOs) hopes this is his last before challenging for the world title against undisputed middleweight champion Jermell Charlo.
Fundora was on the verge of a ninth-minute stoppage-time win over Erickson ‘The Hammer’ Lubin last April in a fight. It was a fight where both boxers hit the deck.
Oscampo (34-1, 22 KOs) has been looking good lately, having won the last 12 games since being wiped out by Errol Spence Jr by a first-round knockout in 2018.
In Saturday’s main rally, the middleweight candidate Carlos Adames face the former world title challenger Juan Macias Montiel.

“I just think it’s metabolism and training on it. We are always sweating. My metabolism is really fast. I eat healthy, but if I can, I’ll sneak a few burgers.
“We have grown up. I was still 20 years old when I fought Clark. I still think I won that war, of course. We are still young. A lot of boxers are 20 years old, they still fight everyone 0-3, hardly any fights. They barely have six, and we’ve got 10.
“We are growing up now. Now we are 25 years old and ready to fight for a title. Everything is lined up right now. We’ll see what he does after this game, but hopefully, we get the fight with him,” Fundora said of undisputed young middleweight champion Jermell Charlo.
“I’m not him because I have the business part of boxing, but we want to fight him because right now he is considered the best at 154, and I want to have that title for myself.
“I don’t know. A 6’6″ guy is pretty crazy in the weight class,” Fundora said when asked if he would hit himself if he were Charlo. I like fighting with everyone.”
