Second-Hand & Vintage Faves – Where Did U Get That
Going to second-hand and second-hand stores is one of my favorite ways to shop! It’s the best way for me to find special and one-of-a-kind pieces! In every city I go to, you’ll find me in the back of vintage stores and scrutinizing everything carefully. However, if you don’t have much time or you don’t want to get out of bed, online marketplaces like Etsy And Collective vestiaire would be ideal for you! Here are my favorite pieces that I prefer to get vintage instead of from a brand!
Motorcycle Jackets & Jackets
When I go to a vintage store, the first place I go is the coats section! I’m not sure why, but you can’t go wrong with classic coats. Usually they are of good quality and it is easy to find oversized styles or something more unique. One of the coolest items I’ve ever bought is this motorcycle jacket from the Paris flea market!! There isn’t a day that I wear this that I don’t get so many compliments!
Those who watched my Paris vlog (this is path if you haven’t), must have seen me try on the coolest vintage jacket. The classic selection in Paris is very good, although New York has many good spots too. Besides, with the rise of vintage fashion, there are more and more great online second-hand stores for you to choose from!
Here is a list of my favorite vintage coats that I found online.
Accessory
Vintage accessories should not be missed! Of course, the popularity of vintage jewelry and bags is well known! But, I’m also talking about hats and belts – (like this one I took from Paris in the video!!)
Accessories like hats and belts are an easier choice – and I also really like them to be more classic. The craftsmanship and quality are always there.
Especially with the rise of Y2k, vintage bags are one of the hottest items. Although sometimes it’s hard to tell if you really like the style of the bag or if it’s just trendy. AND, if you’re looking for a luxury brand, there can be an authentic mess. BUT, here are two ideal sites if you are looking for an authentic vintage bag: bag back And Collective Vestiare. Today, it’s easier (and safer!) to shop for vintage accessories. Here are some of my favorites.
Cowboy boots
Buying used or vintage shoes is not very common. Shoes in general are more fragile just because of the nature of their use. And even if you do find one that has been lightly worn, the chances of finding your size, especially if you’re at size 41 (EU) are very low. That being said, cowboy boots are one of the very few exceptions. Because they’re made from leather and their boot shape is so simple, they’re sturdier than your classic heels. But that’s not why classic cowboy boots are a better choice. THE DESIGNS! Often the classic cowboy boots will have the most splendid intricate designs carved/embossed on the leather.
The leather material and attention to detail are on another level than your typical mass-produced version. Besides, some moments like cowboy boots aim to give that rustic feel. So buying them vintage will get you that aesthetic. There are very few companies that make cowboy boots the same way I love vintage boots (- Mr. Vellies is owned by black people is one of those exceptions.) In general, because of the price, buying the classic versions is still a better option.
