India’s equity benchmark rose for a third straight session on Thursday, led by gains in banking shares, consumer goods and metals. Shared BSE Sensex 30 zoomed 817 points or 1.50% to hit 55,464, while the broader NSE Nifty jumped 250 points or 1.53% higher to close at 16,595.
Mid- and small-cap stocks ended with strong gains.
