Shaving your face: Do’s and Don’ts when shaving your face | Fashion trends
Face shaving is a simple, fast and affordable approach to getting rid of unwanted things facial hair. Shaving is a mechanical (physical) exfoliation method that can be used to remove dead skin cells apart from waxing. Shave Facial hair is a matter of choice. Despite the fact that many women feel comfortable shaving their face, others worry about the negative effects. Some of them believe that shaving will make their facial hair thicker and darker, and in some cases, it can even cause irritation and create redness. Speaking to HT Lifestyle, Dr Sheetal Goyal, Dermatologist and Skin Specialist said, “There are many myths about shaving and most women avoid it due to fear of thicker hair after shaving. but in fact, shaving does not change the thickness or rate of hair growth.Biologically, your hair cannot grow back thicker due to shaving.Shaving simply creates a blunt end on hair, which most people interpret as thick”. She also suggests a few more do’s and don’ts to keep in mind when shaving.
Shaving dosage
- Remember to wash thoroughly before shaving.
- Apply a thick layer of moisturizer/aloe vera gel/any lotion to let the razor glide smoothly.
- Stretch the skin upwards with one hand and with the other begin to shave in a small motion.
- While shaving, hold your razor at a 45-degree angle and shave gently in the direction of hair growth.
- While shaving, continue to clean your razor in between shaves.
- After shaving, wash your face with cold water and apply moisturizer.
- After shaving, clean your razor properly and store it. Make sure you change your razor regularly.
Do not shave your face
- If you have active acne, sensitive or damaged skin then shaving should only be done after consulting your dermatologist.
- Do not shave an area more than twice.
- Avoid exfoliating the day after shaving.
- Avoid using active ingredients after shaving for 2-3 days. Your post-shave skin care should be kept to a minimum.
- Clean the razor and dry it before inserting the cap or it may get rusty.
- Use only good quality straight blade razors specially designed for women.
- Avoid pressing the razor too hard against the skin and always keep the blade clean and away from moisture.
