Silent Hill 2 ‘Loyalty’ remake sticks to the original story while updating gameplay
The developer behind Konami’s Silent Hill 2 remake “loyally” sticks to the story of the original game but updates outdated gameplay mechanics.
Talking to horror XP (and discovered by siliconera), Bloober Team’s marketing director, Anna Jasińska promised that the development team would not “miss the point” in the remake.
“We are focusing on bringing the visceral, distinct atmosphere back in the modernized Silent Hill 2,” says Jasińska. “Longtime fans shouldn’t worry about us missing points while we’re lifting the title.
“We stayed true to the traditional storyline while remaking the gameplay and updating the graphics from the ground up. These are the reasons why Konami commissioned us to remake it in the first place.”
Exactly what will change in the remake is a bit unclear when Konami first announced itwith director Mateusz Lenart only saying that Bloober Team will “turn everything that makes the game a timeless classic”.
Jasińska reiterated the team’s level of commitment, adding that they “have a very secure approach to any changes. We’re staying true to the original title. However, we’re applying it.” make adjustments to some areas where things need to modernize as time goes on.”
One thing that has changed is the addition of an over-the-shoulder camera, but other improvements including new challenges and an updated sound design will also appear in Silent Hill 2 Remake. However, fans will have to be patient to find out what else will change, as the game currently doesn’t have a release date.
