Silent Hill’s next movie will reboot the movie series
Silent Hill’s film franchise is being rebooted. In Konami’s Silent Hill Transmission announcement stream, it was revealed a game remake Silent Hill 2The company also announced that it will be bringing the franchise back to theaters with a fully reimagined movie. Back to Silent Hill will be directed by the director of the original 2006 Silent Hill film.
Back to Silent Hill will follow a plot similar to the original Silent Hill 2 game where a man makes his way to Silent Hill in search of the lost love of his life. Instead, he finds an entire nightmare of monsters and horrors, including the infamous Pyramid Head, one of the series’ most famous and recognizable characters.
According to Rui Naito, who introduced himself on the stream as Konami’s head of IP and multimedia development for Silent Hill, both the new game and the movie came as part of Victor Hadida’s offering, one of the manufacturers of 2006 Silent Hill movie. Hadida suggested that he and director Christophe Gans should return to their collaboration, which made the first film a box office success. The throw prompted Konami to jump in a Silent Hill 2 remake to accompany the new theatrical film.
This will be Gans’ second time working in the Silent Hill universe after leading the franchise underrated, awesome first film adaptation. After Gans’ entry, the series moves to 2012 Silent Hill: Revelation 3D, by MJ Bassett (Ash vs. the Evil Dead).
Along with the new movie and remake, the Konami’s Silent Hill Transmission live stream also announced new games called Silent Hill f and Silent Hill: Townfall.
