It should also be noted that the assistance provided by the Slovak Republic is of a defensive nature only to support Ukraine’s ability to defend itself and to protect innocent lives from further aggression by the Putin regime.
Defense Minister Jaroslav Naď said: “The security of the Slovak Republic and of our citizens is our highest priority. That is why we decided to make this decision now, when we have a suitable replacement for the S-300 system, as we have stated before. The fourth battery of the Patriot system, one of the most modern air defense systems, supplied by our Allies, will be deployed in Slovakia. Together, four batteries of the Patriot system will cover the territory of the Slovak Republic. Due to the technical condition, limited maintenance options and age of the S-300 system, the deployment of the 4th battery of the Patriot system is great news for Slovakia and a great help to the S-300 system. Ukraine. ”
The S-300 is a series of high-capacity, long-range surface-to-air missile systems first deployed in the Soviet Union in 1979.
