I’m old enough (safe in my thirties) to remember a time when we all carried digital cameras with almost unlimited storage. With one reel, you have 24 chances to capture a moment. What you’ve got is what you got. As a kid, the only chance I had to really perfect my pose was when my mom took me to the mall to do our glamor shots.
I was reminded of this when I showed a coworker my Pixy selfies, cringing, and he remarked that it looked like I was working on a rock album in the garage. Of the course it did! The punk and grunge shots are ostentatiously ostentatious and unfiltered, which is exactly how Pixy rolls.
New Snapchat teen camera drone Lovely and super easy to use. However, the battery life is so short that even if you carry a lot of batteries, you don’t have much of a chance to get the shot you want. And with a merely good onboard camera, images can look a bit flat.
But that’s not a big complaint. After all, our picks for best drones on a budget is the DJI Mavic Mini S (8/10, Recommend with WIRED), is significantly larger, costs twice as much, and requires you to actually learn how to fly it. Pixy flies on its own, launches from the palm of your hand, takes a selfie or ussie, then lands back in your hand. If you don’t want to waste time and money searching for cheap drones on Amazon and you want selfies that are more vibrant than what you get with a selfie stick, then Pixy is a good choice. My kids love it too.
Small world
Pixy is about the size of a small paperback book (we even take them too?) and heavier than a deck of cards. It is so small that even my 7 year old kid can hold and operate it. Also, I keep forgetting which pocket I put it in.
To get started, you pair the drone with the Snapchat app on your phone using Bluetooth. Next, you manipulate the small silver dial on top of the drone that shows five icons for the different flight modes: Hover, Landscape, Track, Trajectory, and a star for love mode. like that you can customize. Once you have selected a mode, tap the yellow button on the top of the drone. Then, hold the drone in the palm of your hand and move it up close to your face so that Pixy can lock into place of your head and body; when it has done so, the light on one side of the camera will turn green. Watch Pixy Take Off. While it hovers, wait another beat for the light on the other side of the lens to turn white, which is an indicator that the Pixy has started recording. After about 15 seconds, be surprised when it flies back to your outstretched hand.
To get your video out of the Pixy and onto your phone, turn the drone’s silver dial to Idle. You can import videos and images into both Snapchat and your phone’s camera roll, and the drone itself can store around 20 videos. That will last you, oh, a day. Since the drone doesn’t capture audio, you can also add any music you like, either in the app or elsewhere. You can also do all the usual Snapchat things, like add stickers or video effects.
The camera records 2.7K footage, which is considerably smaller than today’s standard 4K video that I usually watch on the iPhone 11. (It might help if I remember to clean the lens every time I fly it, but such are the risks of carrying a portable, pocketable drone.)
It’s also important to note here that my three year old iPhone has three separate lenses and features like Deep Fusion to calculate much more stunning photos. Pixy doesn’t have any of those. However, this also paid off with the fact that I had never seen my butt in jeans before. Thank you to friends and family who never took pictures of me from this particular angle.

The grainy scene also reminds me The wife died in the movie TikTok memes. The women (and men!) filmed the video parodying themselves as wives, but it was an unfortunate memory at the beginning of the film. The scenes mainly consist of snuggling up under the visors and irresistibly frolicking as they step away from the camera in skimpy gowns.
