Snap, which now has 750m monthly users, expands augmented reality partnership with Live Nation


Snap is strengthening its partnership with live countryannounced that it will expand its augmented reality (AR) service at live music festivals.

The latest Live Nation alliance comes almost a year after Snapchat form a multi-year alliance with Live Nation to “enhance performance beyond the stage and screen” through immersive, custom-built AR.

Social media platforms revealed in the process Snap Partner Summit 2023 that it’s currently bringing customized AR experiences to 16 festivals, including Governors Ball in NY and Lollapalooza Paris.

Snapchat has been developing new AR services through its creative studio, Arcadia. Tools include 3D maps of music festival venues, AR lenses, and extensive online and offline experiences.

The ‘Snap Map’ feature will allow users to capture moments, share their location with friends and navigate landmarks and hotspots around events.

Snapchatters will also be able to use the new ‘AR Compass’ with maps to find stages and locations around the festival site.

Meanwhile, through the new, recent ‘AI-Generated Lens’ show on Microsoft Teams, festivalgoers will be able to transform themselves into an animated sci-fi scene through the ‘Cosmic Lens’.

“At festivals, attendees will be able to use AR to try on merchandise, find friends, and explore exclusive landmarks around the festival grounds,” the platform says.

In addition to its partnership with Live Nation, Snapchat also announced that it has partnered with Disguise, an event visualization and virtual production technology company, to bring Snap AR to select locations and tours .

Through the partnership with Disguise, audiences will be able to view AR images through Snapchat cameras that interact with the production of the images on stage. This technology will be provided by Disguise RenderStream.

Snapchat is also working with DJ Kygo to create AR experiences for some of his concerts this summer.
