Snapchat Launches Special Lenses, Geofilters, Stickers to Celebrate India’s 73rd Republic Day

Snapchat India has introduced new lenses, geofilters, stickers, Bitmojis geofilters, Bitmoji and hyperlocal geofilters to mark India’s 73rd Republic Day celebration. Snap also said that it will be running an influencer campaign with creators from around the country to encourage the community to experience the “shared nature of Republic Day”. Additionally, Snap will promote a campaign with brands like Vivo, Oppo, and Samsung to promote the occasion-specific lenses on their devices. These lenses are now available on the app and can be accessed through the Explore tab.

According to the press release of Snap‘s parent company Snapchat, Republic Day themed lenses, geofilters, stickers, Bitmojis, Bitmoji geofilters and hyperlocal geofilters will allow users to celebrate Independence Day on the app. The company says the new lens offers users their own cap decorated in three colors and also wishes those viewing it a ‘Happy Republic Day’. There’s a section in Snapchat’s Lens Explorer that features community-produced Republic Day special lenses. The company says that it introduced many enhancements to compliment the AR lenses during Republic Day to celebrate Republic Day.

Furthermore, Snap says that “India is the first and only market” where Snapchat has distribution partnerships with all the leading Android original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). The company will start an OEM campaign with brands like Vivo, Oppo and Samsung to advertise occasion-specific lenses on their equipment. It also says that there will be an influencer campaign featuring creators from India.

Recently, Snapchat announced that it is working on a series of new parental controls to help limit how users can contact minors on the messaging service. Snap said it will restrict the Quick Add feature to restrict adult strangers from finding minors on the app to add them as friends to protect users between the ages of 13 and 17 on the app. Last month, Snap also disclosure Story Studio is a standalone video editing app for iOS users. The app will allow creators using iPhone to create vertical videos and share them across different platforms.
