At this week’s annual Snapdragon Technology Summit, Qualcomm announced a new generation of its Snapdragon-branded chips. The showpiece is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, which is essentially an incremental update to last year’s Snapdragon 888 and intended for next-generation flagship Android phones launching later this year and next. However, the San Diego-based company also includes the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 and Snapdragon 7c + Gen 3 as two of its new system-on-chip (SoC) models for Windows laptops and Chromebooks, and the Snapdragon G3x. is a chip designed for handheld game consoles.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is also said to have some compelling features including an 18-bit image signal processor (ISP) that enables 8K HDR video recording. There’s also a new always-on ISP that Qualcomm says will enable always-on face unlock and lock the device when you’re not looking at the screen. This particular update may raise some privacy concerns.
Qualcomm has also developed an on-device AI technology in partnership with health tech company Sonde Health that is said to analyze users’ voice patterns to determine if they’re at risk for health conditions. including asthma, depression and COVID-19.
The features that come with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 can help Qualcomm maintain its strong presence in the smartphone market into 2022 and become an active competitor against Taiwan. MediaTek also its Density range is 5G French fries.
Along with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, Qualcomm disclosure NS Snapdragon 8cx 3rd Generation” is a new chip for high-end Windows laptops and Chromebooks. Both Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 and Snapdragon 7c + Gen 3 seem to be Qualcomm’s answer to Intel and AMD – traditional chip makers in the laptop market. However, Qualcomm’s rival MediaTek is also exploring to gain both revenue and popularity in the laptop market. with its own chip.
And as a foray into a new market, Qualcomm introduced Snapdragon G3x 1st Generation” was the first chip for handheld gaming devices. This can be accepted by manufacturers looking to develop hardware specifically for mobile gamers. Companies include Asus, Black Shark, and Nubia in the past tried to please that audience with their gaming phone. But this time Qualcomm seems to have taken a different approach.
