Sonali Phogat death: Goa Police file murder case against two | India News
NEW DELHI: Goa Police on Thursday registered a murder case against two associates of BJP leadership Sonali Phogatwho died in Goa earlier this week.
Two people booked by Anjuna Police went with Phogat to Goa.
Earlier today, a hospital official said that Phogat’s autopsy was conducted at a state hospital after her family members agreed.
The findings have yet to be made public.
Phogat (42), a BJP leader from Hisar in Haryana who rose to fame on Tik Tok, was euthanized at St Anthony’s Hospital in the Anjuna area of North Goa county on Tuesday morning, an official said. Police earlier added that she died of a suspected heart attack.
The police then registered a case of unnatural death.
Phogat’s brother Rinku Dhaka announced Wednesday she was murdered by two of her associates. Earlier, he said the family would only allow an autopsy after the Goa Police registered the First Information Report (FIR) against the two.
On Thursday morning, Sonali Phogat’s grandson, Mohinder Phogat, told PTI that the family had agreed to an autopsy with a driver that the whole process would be video-graphed.
Dhaka alleges that shortly before her death, Sonali talked to her mother, sister and brother-in-law. He added that she seemed annoyed and complained to two of her colleagues.
He also claimed that CCTV cameras, laptops and other important things from her farm in Haryana went missing after her death.
Three years ago, one of her aides sexually assaulted her after knocking her food and then blackmailing her, Dhaka is also alleged in a police complaint.
No FIR has been registered on his complaint yet.
Goa CM Pramod Sawant on Wednesday said state police are conducting a detailed investigation into the death of Sonali Phogat.
He said that considering the opinions of the doctors and DGP Jaspal Singh, it appears she died from a heart attack.
