Sony Music enters exclusive partnership with Egypt’s Craft Media to ‘sign Arabic superstars’
Sony Music Entertainment Craft Media based in the Middle East and Egypt has signed an exclusive partnership to sign, produce and promote Arab artists and music throughout the Middle East.
Craft Media, a music and events production company based in Cairo, was founded by the famous Arabic producer Hamdy Badr, the manager of the Egyptian superstar Hamaki.
According to a press release, through the new partnership, SME and Craft Media will aim to “sign with Arab superstars”.
Badr and Craft Media first cooperation with Sony Middle Eastern music March 2021.
Music by Sony Middle East also signed an exclusive recording, licensing and distribution deal with Hamaki last year, marking the artist’s first time signing with an international record label.
SME says their partnership with Craft Media has resulted in a series of hits on the regional charts, including songs by Arab superstars such as: Kelna Mnenjar by Wael Kfoury, Elghazala Ra2ya by Karim Mahmoud Abdelaziz, Sayrena Ya Donia by Ahmed Saad, Damayer by Elissa and Ya Fatennya Hamaki album featuring hits like Law Hatsib, Tak, Zayaha Meen and La Malama.
In addition to Hamaki, Craft Media is also behind stars like Maya Diab, Pousi and Mahmoud Al Lethy.
The company has also helped provide a variety of television programming in the Middle East, including the shows The Voice, Carpool and The Masked Singer.
Elsewhere in Sony Music Entertainment Middle East (SME), recent company launched a joint venture record label with centralized music streaming service MENA English.
According to SME, the new label, Vibe Music Arabia, will “support the independent Arab artist community” in Saudi Arabia, GCC and Levant more broadly.
