Sony reportedly halving PSVR2 shipment forecast due to disappointing pre-order numbers
According to a new report from Bloomberg.
The publication reports that Sony has halved its forecast from 2 million units shipped this quarter to 1 million due to disappointing pre-orders ahead of its February 22 launch date. Bloomberg reports that Sony has notified a supply partner to prepare for a drop in monitor console orders, and that PlayStation is expected to ship around 1.5 million units between April and May. 3 years 2024. However, that expectation could change if PSVR2 accelerates.
Given the disappointing pre-order numbers, it’s not surprising – people who will be using the PSVR2 have been vocal about the headset’s pricing. PSVR2’s standard retail package will cost players $549.99, which is more expensive than the PlayStation 5 console needed to play PSVR2. If you don’t own a PS5 yet but want to jump into the PSVR2 ecosystem, you’re basically looking at spending over $1000.
