Southampton appoint Nathan Jones as their new manager
Southampton appointed The town of Luton boss Nathan Jones as their new manager on a three-and-a-half-year deal, the club announced on Thursday.
Jones replaces Ralph Hasenhuttl, who was fired on monday after a bad start to the Premier League season. They are 18th after six defeats in the last nine, including a 4-1 loss to the previous Newcastle United Football Club on Sunday.

The Welshman will take charge of Southampton for their trip to Liverpool on Saturday before working with the team during the World Cup break. When they return they have to face Brighton & Hove Albion, Fulham and Forest of Nottingham.
In a statement on Southampton’s websiteJones said his personal relationship with the club and desire to manage in the Premier League helped him make his decision.
“I know a lot about the club from back in the day [Southampton’s former stadium] Dell, come here is St Mary’s, and it’s a great football club,” said Jones, 49.

“A lot of people in my family are Southampton fans, that doesn’t help half, and I feel really, really proud to have been given the opportunity and I’m really looking forward to getting started.
“Obviously, I want to manage in the Premier League, I’ve dreamed of that since becoming a coach or a manager, but this club in particular – because of the way it’s run, because of the structure, because of the structure. the way they look deeper than just the results – really intrigued me.”
