But that doesn't mean she needs to run away from her first love. “I got to the point where you think ‘Do I have to choose?’” she admits. “And I thought, No, because I've never had to choose before. I've always been able to pursue exactly what I wanted to do and I've always been able to do it all, and so I said to myself, I 'I'm all for it! I'm going to take this master's knowledge and work on health equity content that I love, and help make an impact in the community while also running on racetrack.”
For Thomas that means leaning into opportunities like the one with Eli Lilly and Company—Health equity funder belong to Team USA.
Given her area of expertise, Thomas noted, she was particularly drawn to “the brand's work to increase diversity in clinical trials and expand educational and employment opportunities for in historically marginalized communities”. “It's really important to me, I dedicate a lot of my time to this cause and this is something that I was passionate about throughout high school, college and even my master's degree, so I really happy.”
