Star Wars Outlaws Preview – Exclusive Details on the Ashiga Clan
In Star Wars Outlaws, the main character Kay Vess and Nix must navigate the criminal underworld by interacting with the various crime syndicates that thrive in this period between the events of The empire counterattacks And Return of the Jedi. Kay's position in these corporations is mainly represented by Reputation system, an ambitious mechanic traces her ties to these criminal organizations. inside The story trailer was released recently, we hear the names of three corporations present in Star Wars Outlaws: Hutt Cartel, Pyke Syndicate, and Crimson Dawn. During my trip to Massive Entertainment, I was able to learn more about the fourth corporation with which Kay will have to balance her reputation: the Ashiga Family.
Massive created the Ashiga Clan in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games, as well as other original elements such as Kay, Nix, their ship, Pioneersand new moon, Toshara. “Every week, we have a few calls with them to share what we want to do, our intentions, and they challenge us; we go back and forth like that for a few weeks so we can get the shape language right, to get the story right, to make sure it becomes part of the Star Wars canon,” said creative director Julian Gerighty. “The Ashiga clan is now part of the Star Wars movies. Toshara is now part of the Star Wars movies. And that's pretty awesome when you help design a creature as adorable and fierce as Nix and it becomes one of the most hosted IPs in the world.”
An Ashiga hive
The Ashiga family has a large presence on Kijimi (a planet most famous for its role in The Rise of Skywalker), finds itself at a crossroads when it comes to expanding beyond Kijimi. “They have a long tradition and certain events in recent history have put them at a crossroads where there are different ways they can go forward and they don't necessarily agree with the What is the best way forward,” says associate narrative director John Björling.

I think those aspects make it stand out as one,” says Björling unique type of criminal organization.”
