Stellar Getting Started Tips for Stellar Blade

Stellar Blade is about to be fully released and you can immerse yourself in the action-packed sci-fi adventure. You can read ours Full review for more details on how it happens or read on Interview with the game's creative director to learn more about how the game comes together.

Developer Shift Up has done a great job of gradually introducing new core systems as you progress through the lengthy adventure, but when we played before the public launch, our team discovered Some things the game doesn't tell you can lead to a more interesting journey.

Turn on Auto Loot

While the developer made many smart decisions when creating Stellar Blade, we're a bit confused why the default option to collect dropped loot requires pressing and holding one of the shoulder buttons .

As soon as you start the game, pause and go to Settings > Game and adjust the Auto-Loot option to “On”, this is not the default option. Eve will start picking up items and currency automatically without your input – as long as you get close enough to the items on the ground, they will go into your inventory.

Set hair length

In that same menu we just showed you (Settings > Game), you will find another option to adjust Ponytail Length.

This is mostly an aesthetic choice of how you like the main character to look, but we mention it here for functional reasons. Depending on your play style, extraneous visual “noise” on screen can be distracting, especially during a tense encounter.

Eve's extremely long ponytail presents some interesting physics effects, but if that prevents you from being able to clearly observe your enemies' actions, consider changing the ponytail length to “Short ”

Ambush when you can

Even Naytiba's standard wandering enemies in Stellar Blade can lead to some tough battles and even game endings. Take every advantage you can, including prioritizing early unlocking of the Ambush ability (can be found in the Attack section of the Skill Tree).

Ambush allows you to stab enemies in the back if you can get close enough before they turn and see you. In general, this is an instakill, so it's a good choice for taking out the strongest enemies in the group before taking on the less dangerous ones.

Hastily opened

Similar to the Ambush option above, it would be smart to unlock and use the Rush skill early and use it to open up battles where Ambush is not an option. This skill allows you to close in on enemies instantly, and you can get in a few hits before they have a chance to fight back.

This is also an essential skill in longer battles, including boss fights. After dodging or escaping a dangerous attack, Rush allows you to return to the fight immediately.

Defend first, then fight back

More than many action games, guarding is a necessary skill that you should practice from the beginning. Playing too much offense without defense is a recipe for failure.

Your protection/shield will gradually decrease as you get hit, but it's a great way to deal with the early moments of the fight, when you still feel like there are enemies. And while perfect parries and dodges are great, you may need a few hits to recognize an enemy's attack pattern, and defense is the best way to get through those moments, with the exception of The attack cannot be blocked.

Improved Dodge and Parry to perfection

There is no surer way to succeed in Stellar Blade than to get good at Perfect Dodge and Perfect Parry. It's absolutely core to the combat system, and success with those skills opens up additional options and possibilities.

Of course, the most important thing you can do here is to observe and improve your time to achieve these abilities. A lot of that work is about memorizing different colored flashes of light and knowing which color corresponds to the need to dodge or parry. The training modules inside the Skills menu can help a lot with that practice. To find those, go to the Skill Tree Survival section and tap Square while hovering over the Perfect Dodge or Perfect Parry ability. Seriously, there is no better skill to master.

But you can also hedge your bets. There are additional abilities in the game's skill and equipment trees that make it easier to get through those tight windows for perfect dodges and parries. If you're having trouble consistently hitting at the right time, these are great skills and items to focus on.

Scan, scan, scan

A tap on the center touchpad on your DualSense controller sends a scan around the area around you. That's something that's easy to forget when you're running around slashing enemies.

That would be a mistake. Deciding to scan regularly is a smart move. It reveals where enemies may be hiding. And it also displays important interactable items and individuals, including corpses that can sometimes contain valuable upgrades, such as improving maximum health.

It costs nothing to tap that scan, so get in the habit of doing it in each new area you visit.

Keep up with your side quests

If you're planning on trying and going the golden route of Stellar Blade, skip this tip. But for the rest of you players, you might be wondering what to prioritize in your extracurricular activities.

Side quests provided by actual individuals in the game world are almost always a good choice. They provide more experience and rewards than just walking around killing monsters. Those character-provided side quests also tend to be more interesting than the less personal quests you can get from the bulletin board.

And, while we don't want to spoil anything, it's safe to say that the later hours of the game play out differently depending on certain side quests you may have chosen to complete. Chatting and completing side quests related to that character is a great place to spend your time if you want to expand your time in the world of Stellar Blade.

Pick up the phone!

It goes without saying that you should enter and use supply camps when you find them to rest and regain health and supplies. But you might not realize in the first place that you should also try to activate every pay phone location you come across.

Phone activates new fast travel points; You want as much of that as possible.

Even if you don't initially plan to fast travel much, later missions will sometimes take you back to explore areas you've already visited and having a more comprehensive selection of travel points Fast will help you get back to action and complete tasks faster.

Unlock Beta and Burst wisely

As you play through Stellar Blade, you will gradually unlock access to Beta and Burst skills. Each skill tree adds new abilities that you can use in battle by holding L1 or R1 along with one of the face buttons. These are often high-powered attacks; you should integrate them into your combat flow.

But even knowing that, it's easy to cast your net too wide and weaken yourself by playing too many different skills. That's especially true in the mid-game, when there's still plenty to unlock.

In both the Beta and Burst skill trees, consider unlocking and completing upgrades to one (or maybe two) of these skills before moving on to the others. Remember, both the Beta and Burst abilities draw from their respective meters, so if you use one of the abilities, it will deplete that meter, leaving you unable to perform one-shots. other implementations. It's very rare that you can use multiple mining abilities on the same clock. Therefore, it's best to focus on personal skills to overcome your weaknesses in combat.

For example, Shield Breaker is the base skill (L1+X) on the Beta Skill Tree, and as the name suggests, it does a great job of breaking enemy shields. If you're having trouble in the early stages of a boss fight when your enemies often still have high shields, this is a great option. And instead of diversifying into other skills, we recommend unlocking Shieldbreaker's upgrades first before focusing on other skills. Additionally, Triplet (L1 + Square) is a solid and consistent damage dealer, and a great choice if you just want to take out standard enemies quickly.

Take the time to go through the full Beta and Burst skill sets and consider which individual abilities will help your playstyle the most, then focus on those.

Follow the green dot

When you start playing Stellar Blade, you may encounter many individuals that you feel you need to talk to. If that's your thing, do it. But if you want to focus on individuals who actually have something to offer, look for the green dot next to an individual; these are the people who offer practical tasks or other meaningful conversations.

Please suggest

Occasionally, you will encounter tables that require you to enter a series of symbol codes. Generally, you'll need to find another location that offers that code before you can enter it.

Don't bother trying to record the symbols. Instead, when you return to the appropriate unlockable panel, tap the “Hint” button to see the code. That's not cheating. It just shows you the code you found elsewhere in the game, matching this particular console. If the “Hint” option is grayed out, it means you don't have a code yet.

Experiment with story mode

We always recommend that the best difficulty setting is the one that brings the most fun to you as a player.

With that said, Stellar Blade has a tight and rewarding combat system – if you can enjoy the challenge of some difficult battles, the default Normal Difficulty is the way to go. It has some tough battles, but with patience you will succeed.

With that said, there's nothing to say you can't experiment with Story Mode, and doing so can prepare you to win a tough battle on Normal Mode (or Ultimate Hard mode). (will unlock after you beat the game).

In Story Mode, battle prompts pop up and time slows down during key moments of battle, allowing you to learn exactly what buttons to press when that evil boss attacks you.

If you're determined to beat the boss on Normal mode but are having difficulty, consider turning down the difficulty to Story Mode to learn the rules of the fight. Then, before defeating the boss, switch back to Normal mode, which will reset you to your most recent save point. You can then go into battle with a clear understanding of which buttons to press to react to each attack – but you still have to time it to win.

Good luck on your adventure with Eve through the post-apocalyptic wasteland of Stellar Blade!
