Stop playing PS4 Of Destiny 2 version
Bungieback studio Fate 2 and older Halo game, has a public service announcement for all its PlayStation 5 guardians: Double check that you’re actually playing the PS5 version of the game and not the PS4 version! However, don’t feel bad if you’re playing the wrong version, Sony has done a terrible job with all of this.
Fate 2Next generation portals launched with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles back in 2020. While they don’t New games, they are improved versions of the older generation originals, with higher resolution and 60 fps support. They load even faster and generally feel faster than the PS4 or Xbox One versions. So most players have made the free leap to the next generation versions of Fate 2, assuming they own a next-generation machine. On Xbox, this is easy. You just…downloaded Fate 2 on your Xbox Series X and that’s it. On PlayStation 5, things are not so easy and seem like a “remarkable” number Life Players on Sony’s fancy new console in 2022 are still actually playing the old PS4 port, not the more fancy PS5 version of the online shooter Bungie.
In its weekly blog postThis week at Bungie, the studio included a small PSA on the situation, explaining that “a notable number of PS5 players” aren’t playing the next-gen port, but are stuck playing the old PS4 version. than, slower of Destiny 2. To fix this, Bungie directed users to a specific website created by Sony to help explain how to download and install the right version of your particular game on PS5.

While I’m sure of this PSA will help some people, it’s another reminder of how Sony is way ahead of Microsoft and Xbox Smart Delivery System. Me and many others joked about Smart Delivery at the time. “What a silly buzzword! Who cares!” we said, now it’s one of the best things about the Xbox ecosystem.

On Xbox, I never think about these things. I just hit download and the correct version of the game is installed on my machine and all saves and everything just… works. On PS5, I have to search around to install the correct version, or in some cases I have to install both games to transfer savings between them. It all feels like it’s held together with duct tape and doesn’t seem like a good way to handle any of this. No six steps needed to play the right game on the right console!
And while this will become less of a problem as fewer and fewer games are released on both console generations, it makes me nervous about how all of this will work out. on the inevitable PlayStation 6.
Meanwhile, for those who are still playing Fate 2 on Xbox One or PS4, Bungie also shared the news that they are shrinking the game’s memory by compressing some textures. It provides some comparison shots to show how little the textures are affected by the new system and it looks good. Anything to help make the game smaller and more efficiently, sounds great to me!
