Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin features exclusive digital pre-order missions
If you are excited to kill Chaos in Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin, experiencing everything the adventure has to offer will require jumping through an extra hoop. Square Enix has announced that the game will feature additional, downloadable missions that will not be available at launch. The chase? You can only get them by pre-ordering the game digitally.
The quests in question are called Trials of the Dragon King, Wanderer of the Rift, and Different Futures. There are no details on what they claim in terms of content, it’s just that they won’t be available for purchase separately. The only way to access them is through the Digital Deluxe Edition of the game, which costs $89.99. This means that pre-ordering the physical version doesn’t include additional quests, so fans on the fence side will be missing out.
While tying DLC missions to pre-orders is nothing new, reading the replies to the embedded tweet suggests that fans aren’t exactly happy with the news. Those who have put cash on a physical pre-order (no bonus) are conceivably on hand. Some people who pre-ordered the standard digital version reported that it was not possible to upgrade to the Deluxe version (at least on PlayStation). Since Square hasn’t revealed the specifics of these missions, it’s unclear how important they are to the game’s main story. One would assume they are merely bonus quests that won’t affect the main plot, but Final Fantasy XV is quite famous for having obvious plot holes that are later filled in in DLC episodes. .
It should be noted that pre-ordering any digital version of the game will get you early access to the game 72 hours before launch, the Rebellion weapon, and the Braveheart/Lustrous weapon. The Digital Deluxe Edition also appears in a digital artbook/soundtrack.
Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin launches March 18 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
