Sushi, Gyoza and more: Harajuku Cafe Tokyo, Gurgaon brings you delicious Japanese street food

Love Japanese food? Here, we have found the right place for you to explore. It’s Harajuku Tokyo cafe in the national capital. As a Japanese-inspired QSR brand, Harajuku Tokyo Cafe offers an Insta-worthy atmosphere and delicious food. In fact, the interior, music, and food at the restaurant will make you instantly feel the streets of Japan. After a successful run at Select CityWalk, New Delhi, the Japanese-inspired QSR brand has opened its second restaurant at Gurugram. And we recently decided to stop by the new outlet for a quick meal.

Surroundings:

Spread over 2,400 square feet, this 50-seat restaurant is tucked away inside Gurugram’s Ambience Shopping Mall. The first thing that strikes when you enter Harajuku Tokyo Café is the vibrant color scheme. Like its first store at Select CityWalk, Harajuku Tokyo Café, Gurgaon has a white and pink color scheme, with vibrant neon lights making the space look quaint and charming. The next thing that caught our attention at this particular store were the freshly baked bread and dessert sections. From savory, sourdough bread to classic Japanese cheesecake, you’ll find it all, increasing our appetites. So, without further ado, we took our seats and ordered our meals.

Food and drink:

Before starting our meal, we ordered a cup of their signature mocha which comes with additional marshmallows and kawaii biscuits. Drinks (with cookies and marshmallows) looked nice.

To start, we enjoyed a classic plate of chicken gyoza, which is basically a dumpling, juicy inside and has a crispy brown coating on the outside. Then we went for the teriyaki chicken sack which, we must say, was cooked to perfection! While the chicken pieces were grilled to perfection and drizzled with teriyaki sauce, the baos had a tenderness to it. And finally, we came to the popular shrimp blast (or shrimp cocktail), which is the home-made explosive sauce shrimp tempura. It’s very good!

Moving on, we ordered two sushi rolls – the truffle tempura roll and the salmon inside. The truffle tempura sushi rolls feature enoki tempura and topped with in-house truffle mayo; while the inside-out salmon roll includes chunks of fresh salmon, crunchy cucumbers and spicy mayo for extra flavor.

In a Japanese restaurant, how can we skip trying the classic bento bowl?! Here we enjoyed the quintessential chicken katsu curry accompanied by a hearty serving of sticky rice with fried chicken in Japanese curry sauce. And yes, the taste of the sauce is just right!

Finally, after such an elaborate meal, we decided to call it a day with Harajuku’s signature jiggly-shaped Japanese pancakes. While the sauce options for the pancakes are numerous, we opted for the classic tiramisu. As the name suggests, these stacks of pancakes are soft, spongy, and melt in the mouth. Besides, it’s topped with a delicious tiramisu sauce, with a soft creamy side. Sniffed?!
