Suspect charged in Vancouver police-involved shooting that involved close call for K9 officer – BC
A suspect injured in a police-related shooting in Vancouver has now been charged and Global News has learned that a police dog narrowly escaped death in the incident.
Robin Landrew Pryce, 52, is charged with running from police, dangerous driving, possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon, assaulting a peace officer and using a firearm to commit a possible offense prosecution against a police officer.
Around 8:45 p.m. on July 16, Vancouver police responded to a 911 call about a break-in at a building near Gore Avenue and Railroad Street.
When a police officer tried to stop a vehicle from leaving the area, the driver is said to have failed to stop and drove to an area near East 2nd and Commercial Streets.nd Boulevard, where the “shot” according to Sgt. Steve Addison.
After Jade police dog Deployed to the scene, Global News learned that the suspect allegedly pulled out a revolver and shot her in the head – but missed.
That shot alerted her handler to draw her weapon.
VPDD said no policemen were injured.
The suspect, who police believe was armed with a gun, was treated in hospital for undisclosed injuries.
Jade has received medical treatment and she and her manager have returned to work.
The Office of Independent Investigation, the provincial police’s watchdog, continues to investigate the incident.
Pryce will appear in court on July 26 for a bail hearing.
