The suzuki eVX The concept car unveiled today in Delhi foreshadows an electric SUV that is expected to go on sale globally from 2025.
The crossover concept is Hyundai Kona-small size (4300mm long) and based on a very limited claim by the company may be available with dual-motor four-wheel drive.
“eVX is an all-electric concept SUV derived from Suzuki’s first global strategic electric vehicle. It is expected to be introduced to the market in 2025,” the company said.
“EVX is a BEV model that combines Suzuki’s powerful 4×4 DNA with the advanced features of the latest BEV. The exterior is designed to be immediately recognizable as a Suzuki SUV. Additionally, it aims to bring the brand’s 4×4 heritage into the new electric era.”
The only other information officially confirmed is the inclusion of a 60 kWh battery pack and a driving range of 550 km during the test cycle in India, which is likely above its WLTP rating.
There should also be an entry-level version that comes with a smaller battery of about 48kWh and a range of about 400km.
We have authority that the new model (internally codenamed YV8) will use the new dedicated EV architecture shared with Toyota – will create its own version as part of wide-scale EV deployment.
Suzuki this week also discussed plans to use Porsche Taycan-style multi-speed EV transmission by the Canadian company Inmotive Inc. manufacturing to cut costs as well as improve efficiency.
The production model will report will be launched by Suzuki’s India subsidiary in January or February 2025, but is also being developed for the global market. We understand that Europe will be the priority region outside of India, with Australia in second place.
