Via Brian Webber: Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis trainer Calvin Ford says he’s noticed how Ryan Garcia’s body has recently changed from how it used to be to how he looks now.
Ford suggests that Ryan may have used PED to bulk up. He asked the media to go back and look back at how Ryan looked in the past and compare it to how he looks now.
Tank Davis suspected that Ryan was on performance-enhancing drugs, and he said he wanted him to stop “juicing”.
Ford says that when he heard Ryan opted out of a tuning war in January, he had a lot of thoughts running through his mind.
Ultimately, Ford believes that 23-year-old Ryan (23-0.19 KOs) doesn’t want to take the risk and he feels he has “saved himself” by not adjusting.
Tank Davis trainer Calvin Ford told fight when asked for his thoughts on Ryan Garcia opting out of a prep match to get him ready for their April 15 clash.
“It was his team. I think Ryan really wants to join the fight, but again, he doesn’t want to take the chance. They don’t want to take the chance [of something happening]. Again, Ryan probably saved himself by doing that.
“There are a lot of variables behind them looking at it. I looked at different pictures of Ryan, and he looked healthy, then I went back and looked at other pictures. I love, ‘Okay. Okay, I see what I have to deal with,‘ but I’m not worried about him right now. I have to deal with Hector.
“I said I was looking at old photos [of Ryan Garcia]and now I’m looking at him, and he’s looking [buffed up]. You have to pay attention to that.
“Remember, I said there are a lot of variables with that [Ryan choosing NOT to take a tune-up fight in January]. I wouldn’t put them out there like that. I don’t do it unless I’m sure.
“We know when the boys are feverishWe know it. We have people that we spar with. We know it. Go back and see what he looked like before certain fights and what he looks like now and you do the math,” Ford said of Ryan Garcia’s body transformation.
