Techland reveals the first concept art of its open-world fantasy RPG
Techland has revealed the first concept artwork for the unannounced open-world fantasy action RPG AAA. In addition, the development team recently recruited talent who have worked at Arkane and CD Projekt Red.
The concept art features a man looking at some kind of old city surrounded by lush trees, pink vegetation and waterfalls. Notably, the architecture of this ruin isn’t traditional for medieval England in terms of its aesthetic, so we might be looking for a slightly left-wing field for AAA fantasy.
For this new IP, the studio hired narrative director Karolina Stachyra and narrator Arkadiusz Borowik, both of whom had previously worked on The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
The rest of the team has similarly notable résumés. Recently hired members include open-world director Bartosz Ochman, who previously worked on Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3. Mario Maltezos, the project’s creative director, worked on Prince of Persia : The Sands of Time and Mad Max, while lead game designer David McClure worked on Deathloop. Animation lead Kevin Quad worked on Horizon Zero Dawn and its DLC, and lead user interface designer Marcin Surosz is a UI/UX designer at People Can Fly.
Techland CEO Pawel Marchewka explained in a press release: “We are very pleased with what we have achieved with the Dying Light franchise so far. Dying Light 2 Stay Human is just getting started as we plan to support this game for at least 5 years, with a scope and size to match, if not exceed, what we have provided our community in post-launch support for its predecessor. “
“At the same time, our ambition is to introduce a brand new IP that is radically different from what we’ve been doing for the past few years. We wanted to create a complete next-generation experience,” he continued. “A new fantasy epic set in a massive open world, fueled by the skills and experience we’ve gained as a team over the years, infused with ideas , new passion and creativity. At the moment, we cannot share more details about this project, we are all really invested in it and look forward to showing it to gamers upon arrival. right time. “
