Tesla Model 3 tops sales charts in Europe
The Tesla Model 3 sedan was Europe’s best-selling car in March, according to a report compiled by Dataforce and run on European Automotive News.
Despite a 4.1% drop from March 2021 numbers, the Tesla Model 3’s monthly sales of 23,144 units across Europe surpassed the Peugeot 208 (second in sales of 21,018 units). and Dacia Sandero (sales 19,427 units).
Tesla also took 4th place on the monthly sales chart in Europe with the Model Y crossover SUV with sales of 19,255 units, ahead of Volkswagen Golf which ranked 5th with 16,915 vehicles in March.
However, the March results are not entirely representative of Tesla’s true position in Europe. In the first quarter of the calendar year, the Model 3 ranked 19th with sales of 33,037 units, meaning that March was an exceptional month with overwhelming deliveries and shipments.
In the total Q1 2022, Peugeot 208 topped with 52,031 units sold, ahead of Dacia Sandero (51,496) and Volkswagen Golf (46,578).
In Australia, the Tesla Model 3 accounted for nearly two-thirds of all electric vehicle sales between January 1 and March 31, 2022.
The electric carmaker has sold 4417 Model 3 sedans so far in 2022 according to the latest VFACTS reportmaking it the best-selling electric car in Australia.
