CG says:
In 2022, Infiniti is entering the crossover-coupe game — a segment of vehicles it says heralded her foreshadowing by introducing the sleek, sporty FX crossover for 2003. The QX55 is essentially a crossover. convertible version of the Infiniti QX50 compact SUV, redesigned — and completely re-imagined — for the 2019 model year.
In addition to its sleeker styling, the QX55 also stands out from its brother QX50 thanks to a bolder grille design (Infiniti says the look is inspired by origami), dark machine-finished wheel design, Unique taillights with distinctive piano sound. – key lighting signature” and number plate mounted on the rear bumper instead of the raised door.
The QX55 model line ascends through the Luxe, Essential and Sensory trim levels, all of which come standard with all-wheel drive. The only factory options are the premium paint color, and the ProAssist Pack and ProActive Bundle for essential models. The ProAssist package adds adaptive cruise control, adaptive LED headlights, Blind Spot Intervention, and Lane Departure Prevention. The ProActive package brings with it a head-up display, traffic sign recognition, adaptive steering and Infiniti’s ProPILOT Assist lane-focused adaptive cruise control system with stop-and-go capabilities. (All features in these two packages are standard on the Sensory model.) There are also gate-mount accessories such as a wave guard, illuminated door shield and welcome light.

The QX55 listing is comparable to the QX50’s model line-up, although the QX50 offers entry-level Pure trim and is available with front-wheel drive throughout its lineup. Despite the difference in standard equipment levels, you’ll have to pay at least $3000 more for the QX55 Luxe than the QX50 Luxe, and at least $5000 more if you’re looking at the flagship Sensory model.
Quick revs: 2022 Volvo XC60 Recharge Extended Range
The QX55 shares the 268hp 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with the QX50. The engine is mated to a continuously variable automatic transmission and uses a complex variable compression ratio system that Infiniti calls the VC-Turbo. The engine can make a slightly rough sound when idling and when stopping, and sometimes when driving around town; Depending on your preference, you might find the aggressive tone intrusive or exciting. Note the exhaust rises to a satisfying growl during quick acceleration, and the CVT does a good job of mimicking the step gears of a traditional sport-tuned automatic transmission. This eliminates the annoying high-rpm cruising noise some CVTs exhibit and makes the car feel sportier overall.

The sport drive setting delivers a slightly quicker, more eager throttle response, and the transmission keeps RPMs higher for a bit longer, but without being overly obtrusive. The Eco driving mode is too aggressive for our tastes – it slows down throttle response dramatically, almost to the point of lethargy.
Infiniti has hinted that the QX55 is the spiritual successor to the 2003-2017 midsize FX/QX70, with a sloping roofline and a focus on comfort for front-seat passengers. And while the ’55 enjoys relatively overt styling, it lacks the FX/QX70’s avant-garde and generally sporty design, as well as its responsive handling, large V6 or available V8. that car. Instead, the QX55 is a nicely finished, well-equipped fashion statement, and we’re fine with that.
Test drive: Genesis GV60 performance 2023
The QX55 is well-equipped, refined, and arguably beautiful. Whether this compact Infiniti crossover is worth more than the regular QX50 is up to the customer to decide. But if good looks and a little exclusivity are important to you, we suggest you take a closer look.
