‘Test Squadron’, Supreme Court Center
An enforcement task force and flight crews have been established to ensure compliance with air pollution norms, the Center told the Supreme Court on Friday.
The Supreme Court yesterday warned the government that it will have to do something extraordinary if the authorities fail to get the pollution under control. The court gave the Center and the Delhi government 24 hours to submit proposals on how to control pollution in the national capital.
In its response, the Center said that an enforcement task force has been established, which will have the power to take punitive and deterrent action against individuals and organizations that fail to comply with the regulations. Rule.
17 fleets were formed on Thursday to conduct air pollution checks. The center says the number of teams will be increased to 40 in the next 24 hours.
The government told the court that crews had conducted unscheduled checks at 25 locations.
Air quality in the national capital fell again into the “severe” zone on Thursday with slow wind speeds – due to westerly turbulence affecting northwest India – allowing pollutants to accumulate. Delhi’s Air Quality Index reached 430 at 3pm.
On Thursday, the Delhi government announced to close all schools in the city until further notice.
