Tests on South African Returnees Clearly Positive in Thane of Maharashtra
Thane:
A man who returned from South Africa to Dombivali in Maharashtra’s Thane district recently tested positive for coronavirus, an official with the Kalyan-Dombivali Municipal Corporation (KDMC) said on Sunday.
The official said it has not yet been confirmed whether the patient carried the Omicron variant of the coronavirus.
The man traveled from Cape Town to Dombivali on November 24.
“He underwent a COVID-19 test that was positive,” the official added.
Dr Pratiba Panpatil, Medical Officer, KDMC, told reporters that the man had not come into contact with anyone after returning from South Africa.
The official said the patient is currently being hospitalized at KDMC’s Art Gallery isolation center.
“The KDMC medical department is on alert. We are prepared to deal with the new variant,” added Dr. Panpail.
