The 10 biggest questions we have for Wednesday season 2 on Netflix
So you spent last Wednesday watching by Netflix Wednesday, a program about Wednesday Addamsthe teenage daughter of the Addams family.
Wednesday (the show, not the girl) takes Wednesday (the girl, not the show) to a fun goth-style boarding school for “outcasts” where she is drawn into much of the plot. From an old murder her parents were involved in a number of bizarre deaths happening around the small town of Jericho, Vermont, and from a love triangle and factions in high school to the tension between “outcasts” and “common people,” Wednesday (show, not girl) packed a lot into its eight-episode first season.
It just means there are some unanswered, loosely-ended questions for a potential second season to last.
[Ed. note: This post contains major spoilers for Netflix’s Wednesday.]
Why are Morticia and Wednesday not compatible?
From the moment Wednesday beginning, we learn that Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) and her mother Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones) are Not Concord. This seems to be mapped out for the simple rebelliousness of teenagers. Wednesday does not want to be like mom! But there’s also a bit of an internal misunderstanding in it – Wednesday doesn’t want to be like her mother, because her mother is a mother and a housewife who loves her husband very much. Which, for example, if you consider the goth queen Morticia Addams to be the epitome of traditional femininity, then I have a lot of questions for you.
Midway through the season, Morticia and Wednesday came to an uncertain, tentative understanding. But their fractured relationship is one of the many plot points this first season tackles, especially since it’s also tied to the murder mystery Morticia and Gomez were involved in when they were teenagers. Teenager.
What cult does Bianca’s mother join?
One of the most interesting characters from both an aesthetic point of view and a world-building perspective is Bianca, a siren played by Joy Sunday. She’s the school’s fencing and queen bee champion, and she has cool blue-white bright eyes. Also, we found out that sirens can force people to do their bidding, although that’s not really explored much (since the show explores a lot). What we do know about Bianca’s siren powers is that her ex-boyfriend Xavier (Percy Hynes White) thinks she used them on him.
We also know that Bianca ran away from home, as her mother was married to a cult leader who wanted to use their siren powers to spread more members. The cult is disguised as a self-help app, but it’s actually designed to scam people’s money. Bianca tries to convince her mother to let her finish the previous school year. This only really shows up in one episode, but it’s such a compelling plot point that we’ll definitely see it in the second hypothetical season. You can’t just mention one cult. disguise it as a self-help app then wipe it under the rug!
Who is Xavier’s father?
Bianca’s ex-boyfriend and one of the points of Wednesday’s love triangle was tortured artist Xavier Thorpe, whose powers have to do with bringing his drawings to life. His father is a famous stage magician and psychic and he seems to have a so many by Daddy Issues™. He doesn’t like it when people compare him to his dad, but he also constantly talks about his dad. Considering Daddy Thorpe’s popularity, it’s likely he’ll make an actual appearance.
Will Tyler be back?
Talking about love triangles, other love, specifically the soft bartender Tyler (Hunter Doohan) – objectively better love – turns out to be actually a murderous creature known as the Hyde! As Hyde, Tyler is responsible for all the mysterious deaths around town! Now, he’s technically being controlled and taken advantage of by Marilyn Thornhill (Christina Ricci), the descendant of the fanatical pilgrim who founded the town of Jericho and wants to kill all the outcasts. cancel. So… is there anything good about Tyler, or is he completely brainwashed?
The last time we saw him, he was taken to psychiatric care. So he’s not dead. But was his affection for Wednesday a lie from the start? Because they are really cute! And also, shall we learn more about his mysterious mother? There are a lot of loose ends when it comes to Tyler, and it would be a shame to just hide him.
Who is stalking Wednesday?
In one of the final scenes of season 1, Wednesday opens a mysterious envelope filled with candid photos of herself. It was left by someone who was still out there, who was still able to take a picture of her on her last day of school (they all had to go home because of the #tragedy that happened) and who had a strange feud. strange to her. Is it someone we met on the show or is it a new character? We’ll have to wait to find out.
What the hell is Gomez’s outcast potential for?
So all of Nevermore Academy’s students are outcasts, which we know because Marilyn Thornhill being the first regular in the school’s sacred hall is a big deal. And most outcasts fall into familiar fantasy creatures, like werewolves and vampires. Except when they have more signature powers, like Wednesday’s telepathy and Morticia or Xavier’s art.
As an alumnus of Nevermore, Gomez (Luis Guzmán) must have some kind of power. But we never found out what it was! Perhaps something to explore down the line. The Addams family themselves don’t really appear much on the show, so there’s a lot to learn later.
What is Edgar Allan Poe’s Outcast Possibilities?
One of Nevermore’s most famous alumni is author Edgar Allan Poe. And because all Nevermore students and alumni are outcasts, that means Poe certainly has power. I want to know more.
What even makes an outcast?
Great question! While the whole season focuses on the tension of being abandoned by commoners, we never really find out. Are they just magical creatures? But what about Wednesday, who didn’t tell anyone she had the power to sign up? Do you have to wear black and enjoy the creepy? What about the brave werewolf Enid (Emma Myers), who loves everything pink and sparkly? What? To be criteria?
It’s one thing to leave it ambiguous for truancy at school, but when the whole point of the plot depends on what makes a normal person and what makes an outcast, then It makes more sense to clarify those definitions.
What does the rest of the world think of werewolves and vampires and all that?
Is it only the town of Jericho that hates outcasts? Xavier’s father is a famous mage, so there are bound to be people who like outcasts. We’ll see how far this prejudice lasts.
Where do the Addams family live?
I ask this mainly because in the Broadway musical they basically live in the middle of Central Park and I just think it would be really funny if they kept it that way.
