The Awakening Matrix will be canceled this week
After seven months of scant availability, The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experience is leaving digital console stores on July 9.
According to the Matrix Awakens website, those who add the tech demo to their library on PlayStation 5 and/or Xbox Series X will still be able to launch and shuffle the experience after the delisting date. Here’s what the official website says on the matter:
Haven’t explored The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 experience yet? Still have time! The UE5 Tech Demo will only be available in stores until July 9. Download it before that date, and you’ll still be able to access the demo later — or re-download it if you’ve removed it from your dashboard.

Awakens involves a car gunfight on rails across a city that often looks like it’s been ripped from the silver screen despite being shown on the spot. The demo then allows you to roam the previously crowded city and change things like time of day or traffic congestion to flex what UE5 can. It’s a great introduction to the future of the game, so if you haven’t downloaded it, you’ll want to check it out before delisting on Saturday.
