MG Motor Australia removed its most affordable member HS SUV lineup from its website, following a recent price hike for midsize SUVs.
The Chinese automaker has removed any mention of MG HS Core from its website, with the MG HS Vibe now listed as an entry-level model.
We’ve reached out to MG Motor Australia for comment on the Core removal and will update this story when we receive a response.
The MG HS Core went on sale for $30,990 to drive. The HS range currently starts at $31,990 for the HS Vibe.
The HS range, including the plug-in hybrid HS Plus EV (PHEV), is recently increased in price as part of a broader rally.
The asking price to drive has increased from $700 to $1700, depending on the variant.
The Core is the only member of the HS line-up to feature fabric seats, a polyurethane steering wheel and a four-speaker sound system.
In contrast, the MG HS Vibe has faux leather seats, a perforated leather steering wheel and a six-speaker sound system.
Sales of the MG HS in Australia started late 2019, with the Core joining the range in late 2020 and a single flagship PHEV variant launching locally in early 2021.
A more affordable plug-in hybrid variant, MG HS Plus EV Exciteintroduced in early 2022 and is currently priced at $47,690 to drive.
After launching back in 2016, MG has flourished in Australia and has been one of the top 10 best-selling brands for a number of months now.
The MG 3 small hatchback and MG ZS Small SUVs are currently the best sellers in their respective segments, but the MG HS midsize SUV has yet to quite reach the heights of the charts.
