The color of the year 2022 is an homage to mother nature — Hue shopping
Occasionally, the announcement of the Color of the Year will feel a bit out of place. (Remember when Pantone named it Rose Quartz and a cool sky blue Serenity common color of 2016?) But when American paint brand Benjamin Moore crowned October Fog 1495 As their selection, it feels as natural as the color. A soft bright green shade – a green that is objective but subdued enough to act as a neutral – looks right to the 2022 Color of the Year.
After months of learning to embrace our indoor way of life, mixing luscious colors outdoors makes perfect sense. Better yet, the silver-green shade pairs nicely with a variety of colors (and design styles), so it’s easy to match and build a room around. “October Fog creates a canvas for other colors — and your imagination — to bloom,” says Benjamin Moore’s notification, also revealed an entire 2022 color palette made up of organic colors like Dusty Pink Wildflower, Blue Gray Quiet Moments, and lush, terracotta-tinted Venetian Portico.
But the dominant color of Benjamin Moore’s 2022 Trending Palette is undeniably green, a fact that proves that trendy colors aren’t coming any time soon. This is great news for those who already love the popular color (see: Renovate this gorgeous kitchen, designer Justina Blakeney’s whole house in Los Angelesor checkered boxes in Sarah Sherman Samuel’s Guest bathroom), and maybe just an endorsement that some people end up needing to go green — these low light indoor plants will also help!
If you’re looking to complete an on-trend paint job, consider interior designer-approved shades like simple Lichen by Farrow & Ball, Paint Portola’ Romantic Korine Lime Wash, or more olive green Dirty Martini from Clare. Of course, the rise of green has spread beyond the paint world. So, in honor of the ongoing reign of color, we’ve rounded up some of our favorite home decor picks with soothing shades of sage, olive, forest, and eucalyptus. so you can easily match the color of the year.
