The discount of the MG ZS EV makes it the most affordable EV in Australia

MG cut $2000 off its price ZS EV upon launch, making it Australia’s most affordable electric car…except in Tasmania.

New starting price $44,990 for the MG ZS EV Excite is down from the $46,990 price announced in March and means the ZS cuts BYD Atto 3 in every state except Tasmania.

Where MG absorbs differences in on-road costs like stamp duty and registration to figure out driving rates across the country, the BYD sticker will be different depending on where you buy it.

Although the Atto 3 has a list price of $44,381.35, the final drive-in price varies from $44,990 in Tasmania to $47,935 in Western Australia due to the different offers offered across Australia.

While offering a longer dynamic range, a sharper new look and a more modern interior, the 2023 MG ZS EV will have the same starting sticker as its predecessor.

New for 2023, however, is the flagship Essence model and its $48,990 driving sticker.

“We have been successful in providing the Australian market with unparalleled value and we are now entering a new phase of growth with the new ZS EV. This is the first step in our new journey towards an electric future here today,” said MG Australia CEO Peter Ciao.

“While value will remain at the core of our product offering, value means different things to different people and we want to deliver that value to as many people as possible. good.”

The new ZS EV uses Tesla Model 3-style lithium iron phosphate battery chemistry designed to maximize stability and offers a claimed 320 km driving range – up from 263 km (WLTP).

MG has also updated the powertrain and claims to have improved the battery management electronics.

Peak power is 130kW, up from 105kW, and peak torque has been cut from 350Nm to 280Nm. The 100km/h sprint takes 8.2 seconds.

Other improvements to the new ZS EV include a smooth driver display, 10.1-inch touchscreen, auto-dimming LED headlights, new LED taillights, new 17-inch alloy wheels and a refined grille with an updated Type 2 charging port.
