The highly predictable SUV concept looks like a fish.

The Forgotten Concept: Jeep Wagoneer 2000

Detail:
First seen at the 1991 Detroit Auto Show, the Wagoneer 2000 Concept was used to preview the upcoming Jeep full-size SUVs. The massive 4-door utility is 80 inches wide, nearly 200 inches long, and rides on a massive 138-inch wheelbase. Power for AWD Wagoneer 2000 comes from a 5.2-liter V8 engine with a capacity of 220 horsepower combined with a 4-speed automatic transmission. This concept seats 6 passengers in a 2+2+2 arrangement.
With luxurious amenities, the concept is equipped with a TV as well as a VCR and CD player. For easy access, steps are built to descend from the railings when the doors of the Wagoneer 2000 are opened.

CG says:
Three decades later, the Grand Wagoneer is here again, and it’s big, V8-powered, and packed with luxury features. And while the new Grand Wagoneer isn’t considered attractive by everyone, it’s not ugly, which the Wagoneer 2000 Concept certainly is. It’s a pity, as the car accurately predicted the trend of the SUV movement, at least in terms of packaging and general utility.
The most confusing element of the Grand Wagoneer 2000 Concept is the soft amorphous grille. A lot of Jeep’s design heritage is found in the recognizable, aggressive grille treatments, so it’s odd that the stylists behind this idea would serve up a fuzzy nod. pale in comparison to the brand’s past. To this author, the Wagoneer concept looks like an evil combination of a monk fish and a Ferrari 456; My apologies to both.
As with many concept cars seen before the Internet, very little is known about the Wagoneer 2000 and that’s probably a good thing. Yes, the concept is a prediction of future SUV design and usage, but it’s not easy on the eyes.
