hacker who claims to have infringed Twitter Right-wing commentator Matt Walsh’s reporting last night said he meant no harm – although he is clearly in a position to correct some. The whole purpose of the attack, he said, was to stir up controversy and sow chaos on Twitter.
If that’s all he’s after, well, mission accomplished.
Walsh’s account was first compromised on Tuesday night after a series of impersonal posts popped up on his feed. These include taunts from fellow conservative media figures, including fellow and Daily Wire host Ben Shapiro. In a tweet directed at Shapiro, the hacker alias Doomed wrote: “You know what you’ve done, you’re a homosexual and hiding behind being a Jew.”
Other tweets included “Joe Rogan is a pedophile” and “I can confirm Andrew Tate kidnapped and R*ped those girls,” a reference to the former British boxer and follower. controversial misogynist arrested in Romania last year on charges of human trafficking.
Walsh, who hosts a Daily Wire podcast bearing his own name, is often described as an “online troll”. Previously he described himself as a “Fascist theocracy,” claims to believe that anime is “the devil”and promote state enforcement of doctors who provide minors with gender-affirming care.
Due to his efforts to incite attacks against the LGBTQ community online and in the media, especially smearing transgender people as “groomers,” Walsh recently released a statement. was criticized more for a series of comments that resurfaced in which he mentioned girls as young as 16 as “the most fertile.”
Doomed, who declined to give his real name, said: “The purpose is to make funny tweets, because Matt Walsh likes to ‘activate’ people. “We do not cause financial harm, threaten anyone, [nor] spoil anything.” It was merely “a few silly words on social media,” he said.
A tweet pinned on Walsh’s profile, which was suspended hours after the hack began, read: “My pronoun is that/N***a.”
Doomed said the hack was completed using a technique known as SIM swapping. The attack usually involves hackers tricking the mobile service provider into transferring the victim’s phone number to a SIM card controlled by the hacker, rather than the SIM card in the victim’s phone. However, Doomed claims Walsh’s phone was hacked with the help of an “insider”.
In addition to his Twitter account, Walsh’s Google and Microsoft accounts appear to have been compromised, granting Doomed free access to the private emails of the right-wing landlord.
Several screenshots were provided as evidence of the intrusion, including a clear copy of Walsh’s W2 tax form, which listed his employer as Bentkey Services, LLC, the exporter. Daily Wire version. Other images include a Twitter direct message from Shapiro from 2017; email between Walsh and conservative commentator Steven Crowder, presenter Bigger with more crowd podcast, March 2014; and a photo of Walsh holding a piece of paper dated November 2020—apparently used to authenticate some sort of accompanying message.
