The Internet pays tribute to the dog in Resident Evil 4 Remake
Capcom recently showed off a huge gameplay snippet from Resident Evil 4 remake comingand fans noticed one important thing, a heartbreaking difference.
In the original Resident Evil 4, there’s an adorable puppy trapped in a bear trap that Leon stumbles upon. The player can help free the dog from the trap and the dog will return to help you in the boss battle a little later. In the upcoming remake of Resident Evil 4, it looks like that’s no longer the case.
As you can see in the video below, by the time Leon hits the trap in RE4’s remake, the dog is already dead, leaving you to face the upcoming fight on your own.

RE fans on the internet are mourning the loss of the iconic dog. Even the famous story “Can you raise a dog?” Twitter account chimed in, voicing some strong anger about the puppy’s premature death.

Other RE fans handled the news differently, with some suggesting that this represents a “darker, more sickening” take on the events of Resident Evil 4. Some were disappointed. Because of this change, say the moment the dog comes back to help you is part of what gives Resident Evil 4 a wholesome feeling amidst the dark. And finally, one fan called for a moment of silence for the beloved dog.
(18 / ??) One change that I expect to be divisive in the remake is that the dog you can save early in the game is dead by the time you get to that point in RE: 4. Poor Doggo, but may soon prove that this is a darker, more morbid act in Resident Evil 4, a little more twisted. pic.twitter.com/TsQwa74Ssw

I don’t mean like I’m just complaining for the sake of it, but this is a pretty important part of the game. Saving the dog and then being saved by the dog gave the OG game this “sane” feel in the middle of the dark. Very toku. That’s what makes Resident Evil stand out! https://t.co/TkDW2sSQz4

A moment of silence for THAT DOG helped us in Resident Evil 4! Sadly, he doesn’t appear in RE4 Remake it seems pic.twitter.com/vC059Bl1Ri
