What smell is that?
The first trailer has Evan peters like Jeffrey Dahmer arrived, and it’s all about the scent. New Netflix series, Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, looks raw, mysterious, creepy, and fascinating at the same time. The latest in Ryan Murphyhappenning The deal with Netflix seems to be his most worrisome.
Jeffrey Dahmer invites a friendly co-worker to his dark, yellow-toned home in the beginning of the trailer. After the man asks about the horrible smell – remember, he’s killing victims in his home, so that’s probably where the stench comes from – game over.
We haven’t seen anything terribly creepy in the trailer yet, but it’s definitely coming. For the most part, the series teases the difficult relationship between Dahmer and his neighbor (Niecy Nash), who was completely confused by Dahmer’s way of life.
“What do you do in there?” she asked him. “There is a smell. Power tools work all night. I hear screams coming from your apartment. “
Dahmer went to the house to apologize to her, even bringing a gift to extend an olive branch. It’s a sandwich. An stale, pale and gross sandwich. A sandwich you can see in the trash. His neighbor refused to eat the sandwich, questioning what might be inside. Poison? The blade? Spoiled turkey?
The most likely option is, disgustingly, humans. Dahmer is a known cannibal; he was even nicknamed the “Milwaukee Cannibal.” Between 1978 and 1991, Dahmer brutally murdered seventeen people, often using strangulation, necrosis, and body preservation (which explains the unpleasant odor). He was sentenced to life in prison in 1992, and he was later beaten to death by a fellow inmate in prison.
So far, Murphy’s $300 million Netflix deal has brought us a host of hit series. Starting with his high school satire PoliticiansMurphy has continued to release Ratch, Hollywoodand Halston. After MonsterMurphy’s collaboration with Jennifer Coolidge, Viewerswill premiere on Netflix.
Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story will premiere on Netflix on September 21.
