Jake Paul will face the superstar legend and former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson on July 20th on Netflix at the 80,000-seat AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Logan Paul, the brother of YouTuber turned boxer Jake, reveals that he could have had a piece of the action, too, against the 57-year-old Mike Tyson.
Logan Paul: Chicken or Genius?
On his YouTube channel, Impaulsive, Logan revealed that he’d been offered the shot at fighting ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson, but surprisingly, unlike his brother, he passed.
“The money wasn’t big enough, and I wasn’t down to get turned into a human punching bag,” Logan said about why he chose not to fight Tyson.
Logan wasn’t offered the same big money that Jake Paul is getting, as Netflix wasn’t involved in the clash then. The 28-year-old Logan reportedly made $40 million from his various boxing matches during his short career.
Jake Paul, whose net worth is estimated at $80 million, could make a massive amount of money for his clash against Mike Tyson on Netflix, which has a 260 million subscriber base. It would wind up being the most-watched sporting event in combat sports history.
The Big Question: Is this Even Real?
“You gotta admire their hustle,” Logan said about him and his brother Jake’s willingness to fight anybody if the price is right.
Paul vs. Tyson is being talked about counting as a real fight in the record books, which would be Mike’s first professional match since his loss to Kevin McBride in 2005.
Although Tyson fought Roy Jones Jr. in November 2020, it was an eight-round exhibition, and neither man was throwing hard shots.
Some boxing fans believe the Paul brothers are hurting the sport with their celebrity-esque fights, which don’t remember world-class sports. It just looks like a couple of novices fighting a mix of MMA, ex-NBA players, older boxers, or low-level problems [read: Tommy Fury].
Not surprisingly, there’s resentment from some professional boxers, who watching the Paul brothers rake in tons of dough, making millions, while they’re not seeing the same kind of money in their own careers despite possessing more talent.
