The sequel to the Mortal Kombat reboot is in the works, the writer attached to the project
According to a report by deadlinethe movie reboot in 2021 Mortal Kombat was successful enough to warrant a sequel.
Moonlight Knight Lead screenwriter Jeremy Slater was tapped to write the script for Mortal Kombat 2. Slater has also starred in the James Wan-produced film adaptation of Stephen King Tommyknockersand helped develop the graphic novel series Oh Academy for Netflix. Aside from Slater’s involvement, not much is known about greenlit Mortal Kombat 2 quite yet.
Mortal Kombat was released simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max in April 2021, grossing $22.5 million in its opening weekend, an impressive number in the early months as audiences returned to theaters during its opening weekend. pandemic is taking place. That strong start, however, accounted for a sizable chunk of the $83 million in worldwide sales it took after plummeting in the weeks that followed.
