The slippery Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX breaks its own EV range record
The Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX was claimed to be the company’s most efficient car ever, but a range of 1000 km was not enough for the German carmaker.
After Vision EQXXHaving run the record 1008 km from Stuttgart, Germany to Cassis, France for the first time in April 2022, the Mercedes-Benz research car has now reached 1202 km on a single battery charge from Stuttgart to Silverstone, UK.
This time, the aerodynamic Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX doesn’t have to endure colder temperatures, nor the energetic hills of the French Alps.
This latest record efficient run was done in two days, with a 14 hour 30 minute drive time.
Mercedes-Benz says the air conditioning in the Vision EQXX was turned on for just over eight hours during this time.
The average speed during the entire effective run is claimed to be 83km/h with an average consumption of 8.3kWh/100km.
Mercedes-Benz says the Vision EQXX is able to achieve this level of efficiency due to its sleek, aerodynamic body, as well as an airflow management system that keeps the electric powertrain cool in normal conditions. .
There is also a cooling pad installed in the floor of the vehicle, which appears to be able to use the air flowing underneath the Vision EQXX.
En route to Silverstone, the Vision EQXX was transferred to the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One team, who made the final leg.
After arriving at Silverstone, the Vision EQXX was handed over to Mercedes-EQ Formula E driver Nyck de Vries, who made 11 laps.
While running on the track, the Vision EQXX reached a limited top speed of 140 km/ha with the number of times.
The last battery charge of the Vision EQXX was used in the pit lane after the 11th lap of the Silverstone lap.
After this productive run, the Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX has been fully recharged and is now on display at the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed, where it will take its turn for the famous hill climb.

Seats are upholstered in an alternative leather material that is mostly made from cactus, while other areas use alternative leather material made from mycelium, the root system of fungi.
Other vegan cabin elements include floor mats made entirely from bamboo fibres, synthetic silk door pulls and recycled PET bottle materials for floors, doors and headers.
