The Splatoon 3 community is currently fading away because of a mystery mode called ‘Big Run’
For those not too online, see all the art and messages in Splatoon 3Splatsville Square can be confusing if you don’t like the current meme flavor of the week. Last week, the meme pattern was a fill-in-the-blank sentence that began with “Full of …” Sure.
This week, every message is about something called “Big Run”.
For simplicity, Big Run To be a real game mode, announced in Splatoon 3. It was briefly mentioned in the Nintendo Direct, confirmed this is an event that occurs “every few months” when the Salmonids, enemies of the PvE Salmon Run mode, infiltrate the game’s PvP map.

However, we have yet to experience a live stream, which is likely why the Splatoon 3 community both in-game and on social media are currently working together on the hypothesis that a person can spontaneously be announced on Halloween weekend.
Is Splatoon 3 Big Run coming?
To be clear, there is no actual evidence of this ever happening. But some community members have extrapolated that there could be a carnival based on the fact that there is no Halloween-themed Masquerade as there has been in previous Splatoon games. In fact, there are no Splatfests throughout October – the last being Splatfest launching in late September and a Pokémon-themed Splatfest currently scheduled for mid-November. A popular theory for the lack October Splatfest is Nintendo taking extra time to adjust to the game behind the scenes after many players experienced connectivity issues during the most recent Splatfest, as well as low spawn rates for the new Tricolor Turf War mode due to its arrival imbalance of different groups.
Some fans have also pointed out that if Big Run is like Splatfests, then SplatNet won’t have phase rotation data available for the duration of the event. But savvy people looking ahead to the calendar have discovered that there is in fact phase rotation data for that entire week, for both the Salmon Run and the regular Vs. Modes.
However, the Splatoon community has embraced the joy of a Big Run plot – at this point, it’s more interesting to engage with the idea of a Big Run Halloween being real. Several people have made great fan edits to a Splatcast announcing Big Run, many of which (in the Halloween group) have the flavor of a horror movie:

Meanwhile, others are busy basing fan theories on when Big Run will be and what it will entail. Some really wild but surprisingly widespread speculation regarding the idea that because Wahoo World was so hated all was released in Splatoon 3 without a major update from Splatoon 2, and later that is shown in the Big Run tease in Direct, a Big Run event that could be used as a cosmic event to permanently change the stage.
Others are just relying on the meme:

Sadly, it doesn’t look like we have a Big Run Halloween, but whenever Big Run comes along, I can only assume we’ll have to rely on the proper Big Man to save us from it.
