The tWitch dance that I can’t stop watching
There was a time – for years, really – when So you think you can dance is my favorite show on television. Its return every summer is the highlight of my year. It all worked for me: Nigel Lythgoe’s delightful complacency creator and reviewer; Mary Murphy’s difficult catchphrases; emotional choreography by Mia Michaels; and, of course, the warm, compassionate enthusiasm of host Cat Deeley. But, duh, the real draw is always the spectacular dance moves.
Have a lot of graduates of the program that I’m still stalking—I mean, follow. (Thanks for Instagram.) Today, going to a Broadway musical is like a “Guess” game So you think you can dance Alum” in the chorus. But for fans of the show, there’s no more exciting career to follow than that of Tycoon Stephen “tWitch”.

He’s a hip-hop phenomenon the show has never seen. However, tWitch also proved to be an unexpected star in the show’s most compelling element: challenging the dancers to perform moves beyond their expertise—disco music! Salsa dance! contemporary!—and see who has the patience, versatility, and star power to excel. The judges and viewers were truly stunned by the grace tWitch handled while outside of his comfort zone, not to mention how unexpectedly his specific skills shined within. other dance styles.
After the news broke that tWitch died this week in an apparent suicide, his fans and colleagues shared their favorite videos of him dancing. Usually, no anecdote is shared as often as the hip-hop routine he performed with Alex Wongwhen he returned to the show in 2010 as the “all-star”.
Set to “Outta Your Mind” by Lil Jon and LMFAO, it is one of the most vibrant, complex, and thrilling activities ever made in the series. (It was also what began his decades-long friendship and working partnership with Ellen DeGeneres, who asked him for help.) she learns habits to perform on her show; she eventually offered him a full-time job as her DJ and producer.)

The explosion of streaming services and the ensuing explosion of content is often referred to in the industry as the “Wild West,” which feels especially fitting given the level of lawlessness — and brutality. – now situation.
Here are some show business antics that might dazzle you, but the short version is Warner Bros. and Discovery merged, which means that their respective streamers, HBO Max and Discovery+, will combine soon. One mission of the merger was to cut costs, which resulted in a series of WB series being abruptly canceled and previous seasons completely removed from HBO Max’s library.
Some of the picks over the past weeks have looked particularly jarring. The company cancels HBO Max show Minx while it’s almost finished part 2; it will not see the light of day on the streamer. (It is being shopped elsewhere.) western worldwas at one time the most watched series on HBO, one of the most watched series removed from Max library. (Warner Bros. also hopes to sell it to another service.) But if such a big show is gone, what chance are there for the smaller, beloved gems?
This leads me to my point. Friends, loved ones, kind strangers: We must do everything in our power to protect The other twoa perfect comedy. It’s been renewed and is filming Season 3, but, as this week taught us, that doesn’t make any sense! Let’s join hands in spirit and faith. Let us pray: “Our Molly Shannon, who is in Heaven…” And do not forget to say, “Hail Mary (Katherine Gallagher).”

Collaboration of the century
It’s that time of year when all sorts of organizations announce the nominees and honorees for their annual awards. Among them was the Boston Society of Film Critics, which made waves with the announcement that it Vote for Best Choir draw this year. a winner is women talking, it’s a predictable, worthy choice. Others: fool forever.
This is the kind of interesting, boundary-pushing, but also completely logical left-side pick that we love. (More daring would be to cast Johnny Knoxville himself and his team of bruised stupid stuntmen.) Chief among the giddy about the decision is this. women talking writer and director Sarah Polley and according to her the cast of the film. She encapsulates her enthusiasm in perfect tweet:
Too hot to handle
The revealed this week that Paul Mescal, Joe Alwyn and Andrew Scott have a group text chat together called “The Tortured Men’s Club” were so sexually appealing that to protect myself, I couldn’t allow myself to fully handle it.
What to watch this week:
Avatar: The Road of Water: I think this is one of those “resistance is futile” situations. (Currently showing in theaters)
Emily in Paris: See above. (Wednesday on Netflix)
I hate Suzie: It’s one of those shows that represent the “underrated gem”. I’m glad it got Season 2. (Thursday on HBO Max)
