The TAVR procedure helps the patient breathe easily
Martha Fletcher is often on the move, but recently she noticed that she was short of breath. “When I’m out walking, especially up the hill, I find that I’m going to have to stop and catch my breath,” says Martha.
After some investigation, her primary care physician referred her to the heart valve team at IU Health Arnett, where experts identified her as a good candidate for a procedure called aortic valve replacement. server-to-machine (TAVR).
Dr Mohammad Hoque, an interventional cardiologist who brought the procedure to Arnett, said: “Until three or four years ago, this procedure was mostly available in big cities and larger hospitals, but these patients are everywhere. “Our patients don’t need to travel to big places, and our results are as good as any of those big places.”
