The winners of the 2022 Alberta Awards are honored

Purebred Alberta Industry was celebrated at Century Mile Casino and Racetrack on the evening of May 5 as more than 130 purebred Alberta breeders, owners, trainers and workers joined in the celebration. the best of Alberta.
“In 2022, the Alberta horse race has weathered the pandemic and begun its recovery with good reasons on many fronts,” said Master of Ceremonies Ken Gee on behalf of Alberta Horse Racing CEO Kent Verlik said. “An exciting achievement is the long-term funding agreement signed by the Alberta Racecourse and the Government of Alberta to provide industry stability through March 31, 2031.”
The biggest winner of the night was Dance Shoes (Mank), who won all four categories for which she was nominated: Horse of the Year, Champion Sprinter, Champion Old Horse and Hybrid Champion Alberta.
The Ken Cohoe Lifetime Achievement Award went to rider Rod Cone. The leading breeder is Pierre Esquirol; The top owner is a partnership of Crystal Cates and Gonzalo Anderson; Tim Rycroft named Top Coach; and Enrique Gonzalez were awarded Top Driver.
