These limited edition Pokémon Eeveelution cards are beautiful
I don’t collect Pokémon many cards myself. I have a handful of select cards that I’ve kept over the years, mostly cards about my favorite monsters or sports characters, such as The Professor’s Research Card has my husband, Professor Turo. But I’ve always been captivated by the art of The Pokémon Company smashing a piece of cover and throwing it in a package with other covers for children and both Logan Paul to spend untold amounts of money. That charm continues because The Pokémon Company is teaming up with Japanese artist Yu Nagaba on a new line of Eeveelution cards, and they’re really cool.
If you’re not familiar with Nagaba’s work, he’s known for his minimalist style that is reminiscent of newspaper comics. He collaborated with Pokémon before about things like Pikachu card 2021 And Ed Sheeran’s “Celestial” MV. This new collaboration is a box set with art about Eevee and all its happenings. It will launch in Japan on May 24 and is priced at 4800 yen (about $36 USD). It includes a rubber playing mat, card pockets and a card case. Right now, this set is part of the lottery on Japan Pokémon Center website. In addition to the box set, Nagaba’s artwork also appears on the portfolio and card display, which will cost 1980 yen (about $15) and 1490 yen (about $11), respectively.
After May 24, the Pokémon Center will include an Eeveelutions promotional card for every 1000 yen spent on a TCG-related purchase. This announcement comes ahead of another announcement that will take place on May 5, revealing more information about the collaboration between Nagaba, Pokémon, and clothing brand BEAMS. Thanks to PokéBeach for translations.
Now that I’m looking at all these Eeveelution works, I just want to see all my favorite works in Nagaba’s style. This is the top minimalist tattoo fodder. Give me Raichu, Nagaba, and I’ll tattoo him on my arm forever.
Let’s take a look at all the cards and items Nagaba drew for the collection.
